How would I go about transferring an iMovie project from one Mac to another?

Asked by Seth (302points) July 19th, 2011

I’m working on a video and the MacBook I’m using doesn’t have enough space to produce it into a complete file. Hence, I want to move it over to my iMac so that I can finish it up and turn it into a DVD. I’ve already tried putting the “iMovie Project” file onto a flash drive in order to move it, but the iMovie on my iMac won’t open it. Any suggestions?

Check the versions in the iMovie software. If the iMac’s version is older than the MacBook, you may have to upgrade to open it.

Do you receive any error messages when you try to open your file? Are you using the same operating system for both computers? I don’t know if that has anything to do with your issue.

compact it with winrar? (is winrar for the mac?)

@Mr_Grimm iMovie cannot open projects from within a compressed file, so I’m not sure if that would work.
