Where do churches come up with their catchy slogans?

Asked by deni (23141points) July 23rd, 2011

You know the ones I mean. You see them outside every church in America. “There are some questions that can’t be answered by google.” “Walmart is not the only saving place.” “For protection, use son block.” I saw countless hilarious ones while driving from Philadelphia to Maine last weekend….I should have written them down but I didn’t and can’t remember any. So, is there a large book that they pull these out of? Do the church goers all contribute one into a hat? Do they sit around a table and confer? Serious question.

Usually the minister thinks them up.

I assume there exist religious copywriters too.
I like the church goers contribution too!

@marinelife Really? They’re very clever. It would take me years to come up with a single one. My brain doesn’t work in that way. If that’s so, I’m impressed.

I’ll bet they’re finding them online.

. . .

Yup. Look.

“Want to meet Jesus? Keep texting and driving”

I was about to suggest that they find them online as well. There’s always lists of everything online.

They have to find them online, because I see so many repeats. For example, 3 of those listed above are on church signs in my immediate area as I type this. They’re entertaining, though. I posted a question about it recently.

I thought of piggybacking on your question, @deni, but decided it might hijack your thread, so I posted a separate one.

hahaha. that’s funny, @Jeruba @Blackberry @ANef_is_Enuf….i never see repeats! I thought maybe all churches bought a large book with an endless list of them.

Churches have periodic bulletins and I think they are shared. Materials comes out of the home church offices. Same with sermons, Sunday school lesson plans, fund raising ideas, etc. Every community, including church communities, has its gagsters and jokers and they share.
