What's the best software to create my own font?

Asked by intro24 (1434points) July 25th, 2011

It has to be free and easy to use, seeing as I’ve never made a font before. I still want complete control over the letter shapes though. Anyone have any programs to recommend?

You do not mention what platform or device you are using. If it is an iPad I can strongly reccomend IFontMaker

In about 25 minutes I created a complete font set of skulls and bones.

Good point. I don’t have an iPad but I’ve got Mac or Windows

Some resources

So You Want to Create a Font at I Love Typography – they have a list of tools included and the website as a whole is a great resource

Font Forge appears to be free font editing software and includes a list of more programs at the bottom.
