How can I help that kitten?

Asked by disenchanted_poisongirl (1443points) July 30th, 2011

Today, my friends and I went for a walk. We found a kitten that was all alone, its mother wasn’t there. We thought that she’d come back later, but she didn’t. Some hours later, the kitten was still all alone. We said we’d buy some milk for that kitten, but we didn’t. Later, it was whining. I feel bad for leaving that kitten alone out there. What should I do? Should I take care of it? Wait for its mother to show up? Take it to the vet and then keep it? Leave it alone? What? I don’t know what to do, please help me. I want to help that kitten, but I don’t know how.

Go get that kitten, then see about having it checked out by a vet.
I hope you can keep it.

@lucillelucillelucille Thanks, and I hope the same. If it’s still there tomorrow, I’ll get it. But I don’t have any money for the vet. I guess I’ll find some until Monday.

@disenchanted_poisongirl – I think it might be better off with you until you can get it checked by a vet.Good luck:)

If you can’t take care of it, meaning food and water take it someplace. No need to worry about vet bills now. GET IT FOOD AND WATER.

@johnpowell I will, but I think it was a small kitten, too young to eat. I was thinking about getting it some milk. But food is a good idea too, if it can eat it.

You can’t leave it in this heat if you are in the US much longer. It won’t survive. Go get it and give it some food, milk or water.

@chyna I’m not in the US, I’m in Greece. And it’s quite hot here, I hope it’ll survive.

If I could, I’d go and find it right now, but I can’t. It’s almost midnight.

Well you could first give it some food and water at the place where it is in case its mom show’s up. It’ll probably stay there if you keep bringing it food. If you notice after a couple of days that it really is alone then take it home. Till you can get it checked by a vet for diseases, be careful and keep it confined to one single area of the house. Touch it with gloves on or wash your hands thoroughly after touching it.

If you can, bring it milk or – depending on if you think it’d be able to eat it – canned cat food mushed up. When my cat was a very small kitten I would hand feed it canned cat food mushed in milk. I hope you can keep it, but if you can’t perhaps there’s a humane society or someone you know who might take in a kitten even temporarily? Good luck.

I’ve been searching, and searching, and searching for that kitten but..nothing. I hope its mother came and took it, or someone else found it. I hope it’s okay. I’m so sad I didn’t find it..It’ll be my fault if it dies :’( :’(

If you can’t find it at all, chances are really good that someone found it and took it home.
