Is there someone in politics who you believe is really a fine person? (not counting those who are currently running for president)

In any of the three branches of government, or in the public sphere (not talking entertainment here).

in Canadian politics irwin cotler I’d a very good guy. He fights for many civil rights and was the main guy supporting gay rights in Canada. I’m proud to say I’m related to him.

Jerry Springer, believe it or not, was an amazing mayor/politician. He is currently trying to get back into it.

Agreed on Gregoire. Washington State is full of “fine people” in office or retired: Secretary of State Sam Reed and his predecessor Ralph Munro are good examples.

Henry Clay (you didn’t specify “living!”). Always trying to ensure the stability of the country, always working out a way to compromise (e.g., he kind of solved the nullification crisis!).
