Is there an introduction to Fluther?

Asked by YARNLADY (46379points) August 1st, 2011

Something that explains the mansion, the frizzer, pancakes, and the sayings (milkshake)? Where is it?

Other than the guidelines I don’t think so.

I’ve never seen one that explains all of that stuff. Seems more like those are things you just have to learn by being here.

That would be like fronting 30K!

Every once in a while n00b will ask a question about certain isms and they just have to look a little harder to find the answers to them. Lisa said it best once when asked about a certain award (ugh!): nothing like a good scavenger hunt.

There used to be an awesome Wiki page, I think it was created by @johnPowell. It was over a year or so ago so I could be wrong.

It had all the memes and stuff.

I have been out of the loop and so much in life has changed.

This is an interesting thread for beginners.

@everephebe Yes, a thread that someone might happen on, but I am asking about a random new member site, like the links at the bottom of this page.

Nothing official, no. The awards aren’t presented in any way other than being there, and the rest of the stuff you mentioned are things belonging to this community as inside jokes and site culture. That usually isn’t something mentioned in most introductions.
Fluther doesn’t have any of that, at least as far as I know.

And if it did, it would totally have to mention the Yarnpocalypse. :)

The wiki changed over a few months ago. Everything was lost in the transition. But it is still there and I had pretty much forgotten about it. http://www.jellytastic.net/

Go nuts if you want to add to it. Or send me a pm if it won’t let you edit or add.

Yes, it’s known as reading threads. That’s how I learned how this place works.

Nothing official, no. The wiki @johnpowell linked to is as close as we get.
