Why is it that only men get accused of acting like a little kid?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46811points) August 6th, 2011

I’ve never heard anyone say about women, “She’s 40 but she acts like a 12 year old.”

I listen to dozens of men daily complain about women, A-Z topics. Yes they most certainly do complain about women who still act like 12 year olds and worse, speak like 12 year olds.

How many men have you heard get accused of being a little bitch?

Men act out, and they are immature, women act out, and it is cute.

OK, here is a complaint against a woman. I have an adult female family that acts like a two year old, even to the point of pooping in her pants to avoid having to help clean the bathroom.

@Dutchess_III I invite you to my workplace. We have a grown woman with kids who dresses and talks like a 12 year old, have a female teacher who tries to dress like a sexy 17 year old, and more. @DrBill, it’s not cute when a gaggle (no offense, Coloma) of 30-somethings clique up and choose random targets to bully.
I think childish adults are annoying, regardless of the gender. The worst… a childish man that acts like a 12 year old girl.

Little girls are in such a hurry to grow up, be an adult, wear their mommies high heels, wear make up, so they are (or think they are) adults at an early age. Then as they get older, into their 50’s and 60’s you hear “she dresses like a 20 year old, she needs to act her age.”

Men just never grow up.

Because we are merely trying to show them how to loosen up a bit and have some fun! Stop acting so serious already…who cares what the PTA thinks!

@YARNLADY I think your family member goes WAY beyond childish. She has some serious emotional issues.

This question isn’t about bitchiness…it’s about maturity. I agree with people who dislike 50-something women who try to dress like 20-something’s, but that’s not due to maturity issues so much as denial. There is a lot of pressure on women to be sexy and it’s hard when you start losing it.

@barnacle bill…it’s not about “acting out.” It’s about acting like an adult…. cleaning up after yourself, managing your money, paying your bills on time, worrying about your credit, not demanding to get every little thing you want, taking responsibility and not trying to blame other people. Things like that.

You ever tried to live in Harper Valley @Cruiser??!!

I hear that alot… What about those dumb women who talk in baby voices to get what they want? Ew.

Jeruba's avatar

I have heard it said about members of both sexes. And I have seen members of both sexes who deserved it.

No one wants be labeled as the person that questions a woman?

Dutchess_III's avatar

@redfeather That’s manipulation!

mazingerz88's avatar

We tend to do it more.

They’re more often referred to as spoiled brats, Daddy’s little girls or drama queens. Same idea, though.

rooeytoo's avatar

I hate to admit it, but I have seen plenty of females who act like children, the helpless damsel in distress routine. Maybe that is the difference, males act childish, females act helpless.

Both are equally annoying.

@YARNLADY – I think that female needs a time out or maybe even a swat on the bum!

zenvelo's avatar

Men are called “little kids”; women get called “spoiled brats”.

Berserker's avatar

I heard it about women quite often. Also @bob_, I’ve heard men being called little bitches often, too. No sacred cows nowhere, man. XD

bob_'s avatar

@Symbeline And ain’t that a little bitch XD

Berserker's avatar

Well, what can you do. Life’s a bitch, then you die. :D

ucme's avatar

Because women are all growned up & clever & shit, while men are big dopey gormless snotty kids. For this is the way of things & so it is written XD

When my kids are trying to wake me up, apparently I act like a 5 year old. “NO! I don’t wanna’!”, and my husband tells me that when I try to have an ‘angry face’, I look just like my youngest daughter, pouting. It makes him giggle, damn it!

I’ve definitely heard this phrase in reference to women and men. Just last night, my husband said this woman on his game (Final Fantasy online) was acting like a 12 year old who wanted to take her ball and go home. And she’s 60 some years old!

Blackberry's avatar

@augustlan FF11? People still play that?

Dutchess_III's avatar

I get annoyed with women who act all helpless too…but again it’s manipulation. Some women think that’s the best way to attract men. It works. They attract men. AH types, though, who want to be all dominate and “smarter than a women.”

Blackberry's avatar

@augustlan I was debating going back, but i know if I play again, I’ll never have a social life.
