New item: Kraft Simply Cottage Cheese. Are you brave enough to try it?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) August 8th, 2011

I was shopping at my neighborhood WalMart Food Store and came across this in the fridge section: New Simply Kraft Cottage Cheese. I thought I would give it a try and after all, it’s made by Kraft, so how bad could it be, right? Wrong. I cannot find the words to describe the contents in that carton. It reminded me of a vanilla milkshake with pieces of butterfat in it. My dog even rejected it. Question: has anyone else bought this item and if so, what’s your opinion of it? On a scale of 1 to 10, this dairy product receives a 1(bad) from yours truly.

Doesn’t all cottage cheese resemble a vanilla milkshake with pieces of butterfat in it?

Ummmm….. maybe it’s just like every other cottage cheese. Have you not had cottage cheese before?

Is it fat free cottage cheese? I hate that stuff. I do like regular cottage cheese. I mix it up with salt and pepper, or lemon pepper and a little mayo, or maybe have it with some tinned peaches. Yum Yum. You need to dress it up a bit. Just on it´s own, it´s not all that nice.

Where you went wrong was when you thought “it’s made by Kraft, so how bad could it be?” My grandfather was a dairy farmer for all of his life. He would never let us eat anything made by Kraft.

Don’t give cheese to dogs :)

Willworkforchocolate, I have had cottage cheese all my life. In fact, Purity Dairies, in Nashville, consistently receivies the blue ribbon award for its cottage cheese. It is great.

I grew up on cottage cheese from Purity Dairies.

That other is gross!

I recently read/heard somewhere that adding the word ‘simply’ to food products is the newest advertising ploy.

AmWiser, is that any relation to the word “virtual”. Like it’s is almost a casino, but not 100%?

Simply….....almost? If so, no wonder I threw it away.

I’m probably going to try it now.

I’m Simply Shocked that a Kraft cheese product would be crap. After all, they’ve been marketing cheez forever… cheez in a can, dayglo orange cheez powder, gritty-textured cheez-filled crackers..

On a scale of 1–10, all of Kraft’s commercial farm products rate a 0 with me. I refuse to buy any dairy product that is from a corporate farm.

Eeew ...never. Lol, I agree with @Blueroses intellligent sarcasm.

I never buy Kraft products.

I have not heard of this particular product, but I love love love cottage cheese, so I most likely would like this. I also like buttermilk too which disgusts a lot of people, because it literally has little bitty chunks of butter floating around in it, and it’s sour (not gone bad) milk. I love it!

I tried it too and it was HORRIBLE. I thought it was my prego taste buds, my husband tried it, made the same awful face. I didn’t even make my son try it, and we are a ‘try everything that’s on your plate’ it was just that bad!!

It is terrible stuff. I threw my tub away!!! A friend of mine tried it also and threw his tub away too.

I did and it is freaking gross. Would be OK in lasagna or some other dish but just to eat beside something. Ewww…. Last time I will buy it!
