What are the laws in the UK regarding embryo research?

what are the laws in Britain on embryo research? What are the pros and cons of such research?

There’s a bill before the House of Common as to whether hybrid human-animal embryos will be allowed for research. Such an embryo was created at the University of Newcastle, see here at BBC and here for information about the proposed law.
