Which out of these 3 movies should I spend my hard earned money to go see?

Asked by tinyfaery (44084points) August 11th, 2011

I love to go to the movies, but hate the price. Out of the following three, please tell me which one is best or which you would go see.

1. The Help
2. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes
3. Crazy, Stupid, Love
(Cowboys and Aliens is also a possibility but only give this answer if it’s a must see.)

I don’t have a home theater system so I pick the movie that will make the best use of the big screen and the others I will wait to rent.

I saw Cowboys and Aliens and Crazy, Stupid, Love and they were both pretty contrived, but the latter was still cute. C&A was kind of cheesy and had some pretty noticeable plot holes.

I vote The Help.

Honestly, I wouldn’t see any of those in theaters.

So which one, @Cruiser.

Not Rise Of The Planet Apes. Please.

Amazingly enough, Planet of the Apes seems to be the best of the bunch, at least according to reviewers.

Break the law and save your money. Lol.

I don’t know any of these really but based on my criteria both Planet of the Apes and Cowboys and Aliens seemed to have pretty active ads on TV that would provide some heavy duty action scenes. The other 2 movies are renters IMO.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The Help should be awesome. I will see it soon.

Saw Crazy, Stupid, Love with the husband last weekend. In our opinion it was worth our time/money…but we like going out.

I just literally 5 minutes ago got back from The Help. It was great. I had just read the book, so I was a bit skeptical about how they would do with a film, but I was really impressed with the screenplay and the performances. Unnerving how my eyes leaked though…

I haven’t seen any of them, but I will definitely be going to see The Help. If it’s anywhere near as good as the book, it should be really terrific. The only thing that might throw it off for me is the casting. I had very distinct ideas of what all of the characters looked like in my mind.

Hmm…my rule is usually the same as @Cruiser.‘s I can see The Help at home. But I really want to see it. I LOVE Emma Stone.

SpatzieLover's avatar

@tinyfaery If you love Emma, then see Crazy Stupid…She’s adorable in it.

I’ve not seen any of these but the only one I am interested in is Planet of the Apes. I’m old enough to remember the original TV series.

This is difficult to admit, being a man who loves action movies, but I would recommend you see Crazy, Stupid, Love. It was by far the funniest movie I have seen this year! Trust me, you will thank me later!! (If you need more convincing, I heard Ryan Gosling gets naked in the movie. Or so I am told, I went out for more nachos.)

I just DL everything in HD when it comes out.

Ahh Ryan Gosling. I haven’t seen any of them. Previews, yes. I would go for Cowboys and Aliens considering it’s the big screen.

I haven’t seen any of them, but if it were me, I’d see The Help. Everyone I’ve talked to who has read the book has had wonderful things to say about it.

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes and liked it. But The Help seems interesting too.

The Help sounds like the best of the three, to judge by writeups. However, for escapism, it’d probably be Apes. Are you free to go in the afternoon just now and enjoy a reduced ticket price?

The Crazy Stupid Rise of the Planet of the Help?

Seriously, for lack of a better choice, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Midnight in Paris if you haven’t seen it. Funny Woody Allen.
