ISP recommendations?

Asked by kevbo (25672points) May 3rd, 2008 from iPhone

I need an ISP. We have a Qwest bill and a Dish Network bill and will consider adding internet service via them. Also, we have AT&T wireless and Verizon wireless and would consider mobile broadband (although that would require a dongle for my MacBook, right?) I’m also willing to go dial up. Not willing to do Comcast. We don’t have FIOS, and we do have local guys. And I’m a cheapskate when it comes to paying for Internet. Just looking for ideas. Thanks!

Look into Clearwire.
I’m only pointing you in this direction because it’s a hellva lot better than dial-up, but not quite cable / DSL, and the price isn’t bad.
Just MAKE SURE your house receives a good connection before you commit to a 2 year contract. And make sure nothing will come between you and the tower. Such as a skyrise, etc.
Also, Clearwire throttles torrenting, so if you’re looking to do that then forget them
