Why do people ask hunter level in the wild?

Asked by Preethiop (114points) August 15th, 2011

In runescape, while wearing dharocks people ask hunter level, what does it mean?

I’m in the wild and they say hunter lvl? And I say mine, but what does it matter?

Maybe because they wanna know if you’re high enough to be able to complete some task with them? I’m guessing. Never played that game.

Could you translate that question?

@Adagio, I have an idea that if we can’t make out the question, we probably don’t know the answer.

I understand this because I used to play Runescape (lol). However, I was never a paid member so the hunting skill wasn’t available to me, so I’m not very familiar.

I know people asked me my various levels all the time and I used to just assume it was the geek equivalent of comparing dick sizes.

THey keep asking that to party up and see if you are a paying customer.

@Mariah in most games the only interactions are “hi / hi” and “lvl? or level?”, oh and not to forget the casual “where u from?” and after that the conversation dies because they focus on other things. People don’t play games for the chat :) though chat was incorporated to communicate. How would you respond if you want to play a game and someone in the game ask you what is the purpose of meaning or any other questions like this? You’d laugh and maybe give a short reply but you wouldn’t take them seriously since the gamers come in two categories: game addicts and kids.

Huh? I never said I wanted anybody to have a lengthy conversation with me.
