What are some great ideas for a "birth of the universe" themed party(see details)?

Asked by FluffyChicken (5486points) August 25th, 2011

A friend of mine is having a birthday, and we are throwing him a “Birth of the Universe Party”.

What are some great ideas you have that would work well for such a party? Guests are mostly in their twenties, some are vegan.

I have a quirky sense of humor, so bear with me please. : ) The first thing that comes to mind is a “universal epidural” so he can birth without pain. (Lots of men couldn’t handle the kind of pain that comes with a normal childbirth.)

Bwahaha! Not sure how to incorporate that into a party though…

That sounds like such fun. The first thing that popped into my head was something focusing on the elements which could lend an earthy feel to it.

Is it too early to suggest you begin with a “big bang”?
How close is this group?

A spewing volcano.Lava lamps. Drinks with dry ice to make them foam. Or a punch bowl that’s foaming. Molten cheese dip with scoopers of your choice. Hot fudge on ice cream. A fondue party with different bubbling pots of cheese with cubes of bread to dip, hot oil for cooking bits of meat, sausages etc., melted chocolate with strawberries, pound cake, marshmallow to dip in it. Dinosaur shaped cookies or muffins if you know of someone with a dinosaur cookie cutters or muffin pan you can borrow.
