Happy Birthday, Freddie Mercury - wherever you are! What is your favorite Queen song/live performance?

Asked by Jude (32198points) September 5th, 2011

I posted a question, yesterday, about how emotional/sentimental that I’ve been this past week ;), and, today, would have been Freddie’s birthday. I grew up the youngest of 4 kids. I’m 39, my two brothers are 47 and 48, and my sister is 50. I remember them playing Queen a whole helluva lot. My brothers both saw Queen perform back in the day, and they said that there was no one like Freddie. They were left gobsmacked.

If you haven’t seen it, check out Google’s tribute to Freddie.

And, here. (I’ve listened to this a good 5 or 6 times this morning).

Dragon Attack. Not as popular as Bohemian Rhapsody, which is a classic and another great one, but still a great song.

I love Queen! This is my favorite song by them.
I sing this in the shower so I don’t have to dodge bullets in the car :)

I love this video.

I remember rollerskating to this at “Skate Park” back in the 80’s. A red rabbit’s foot attached to my rollers skates. I did the white-girl overbite on rollerskates. I looked awesome. ;)

@jude—I’m crazy about the McFuckers

@Jude LMAO! I would love to hear Ethel Merman sing a few

My favorite is “Another one bites the dust”. Story of my life.
I love Queen.

Totally unrelated, but, i love this song. Sappy-jennay, day 7. I saw Juice when I was 10. I saw her in her tour bus making a peanut butter sandwich. :)

Princes of the Universe— the song really does reflect Freddie himself.

RIP Freddie….he was amazing!

Ohhh my god I cant think of a favorite. Dont Stop Me Now jumps to mind (google did an awesome job on that) Fat Bottomed Girl , Killer Queen , I Want to Break Free , Bicycle Race and of course Under Pressure with Bowie

chyna's avatar

@uberbatman Oh! I forgot Under Pressure. That will probably be my first choice. Sorry to copy from you.

The first family car I got to drive only had a cassette player (I know, stone age, right?) I had my parents’ cases of tapes and literally wore out all of the Queen cassettes. Ageless, timeless, out of mindless… I adore every single song! Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy is still one of my favorites.

Whoa… what the hell. The Freddy Mercury tribute isnt on google.com just google.ca . Lame. Its not even like they have somethin for Labor Day instead just a lil flag at the bottom.

I love Bohemian Rhapsody, but I am surprised Your My Best Friend hasn’t gotten a mention yet.
I saw Queen 2 or 3 times in concert. Freddie was incredible.

Queen was AWESOME period! Rest in peace Freddie. I love you!

My favs. are:

Bohemian Rhapsody
Killer Queen and Crazy little thing called love.

Yep, 70’s girl here, and, I sing “Killer Queen” to my cat all the time, only I change the lyrics a bit….

“She’s a killer queen, dynamite with her killer claws, garuanteed to blow that mousies mi-iiiind….

Mine are ‘39 and Who Wants to Live Forever?

I solemnly swear that the name of the starting vocalist has nothing to do with my choices. ;-)

filmfann's avatar

@filmfann ACK! You’re, not your!

OpryLeigh's avatar

‘39 from Night at the Opera is my favourite even though Freddie didn’t sing it. I also love Fat Bottomed Girls, Another One Bites The Dust, Killer Queen and I Want It All.

‘Under Pressure’ with David Bowie. A little cliche, yes, but it’s Queen with David Bowie.

I love, love, love Queen! I discovered them after Freddie Mercury died, and I was so sad.

Happy birthday, Freddie! You are one of a kind and irreplaceable.

My favorites? Probably “You’re My Best Friend” and Bohemian Rhapsody, but I love all of the other songs mentioned in this thread.

Here is my Queen prescription for my fellow Flutherites: Get Down, Make Love. Do it for Freddie!

filmfann's avatar

Another wonderful song not mentioned yet is Somebody To Love

Blueroses's avatar

@filmfann dang! I thought that was mentioned, but a recheck told me no.
Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
I’m ok, I’m alright
Ain’t gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

El_Cadejo's avatar

You’re both wrong actually. Its the second answer :)

Blueroses's avatar

I thought I had seen it. I was behind a “this” link

El_Cadejo's avatar

Ohhh man this is awesome lol

I love so many of Queen’s songs. I fallen in love with one after another. I have all their albums and my current favourite is, Jealousy.

White Man (live 1974) I still get goosebumps listening to this one.

Millionaire’s Waltz (live 1974)

Teo Torriatte

Seven Seas of Rhye

Father To Son

And the best “I hate the world and you” song: Death On Two Legs

Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy

@lucillelucillelucille That was my first 7” record I bought, when I was about eleven or twelve!

marinelife's avatar

@rebbel Thanks for posting that link. That is a Queen song that I had never heard.
