Mel Gibson vs Jews, is there no room for reconciliation?

I’m looking at this primarily from the perspective of a Hollywood movie fan. It started with The Passion of the Christ, then that drunk driving incident where Gibson spewed anti-Semitic remarks.

I believe the actor a few years ago, showed up at a synagogue in LA and had a discussion where he explained himself with Jewish leaders there, short of actually apologizing-?

It seemed what was probably an already dwindling career, got worse because of this, pile up the feral phone remarks and the craziness towards his estranged wife.

As a movie fan, I feel bad about Mel Gibson. I so enjoyed his movies. I was astounded with Braveheart but even before that, I liked The Man Without A Face ( which incidentally is what seemed to be his predicament right now ) Apocalypto was amazing, imo.

So what would it take for him and the Jewish folks who disapprove of him to really reconcile and forgive-? He still has Jewish support in Hollywood but recently, news was announced that he is doing a film about Judah Maccabee, a hero in Jewish history and this is like bitch-slappin the hornet’s nest again. Here’s the link.
