Should we have a chat room party?

It seems like the chat rooms always have people in them. The problem is that no two people are in the room at the same time. It always seems to go like this-
Person1 entered room
Person1 left room
Person2 entered room
Person2 left room
Person3 entered room
Person3 left room
etc.
This all happens within a few minutes. If we somehow coordinate when we all go to the chat room, there will actually enough people in the room to have a conversation.
This is why I think that we should have a chat room party. We should just set a time, and have everyone go to the chat room at that time. We might actually set a record for the most people in a chat room at the same time.

I’m definitely up for this.
They need to get rid of the six different rooms. Make it one and people might stick around.
Haha.. During the winter Olympics I made the “Current Events” room. Even the tagline Stuff is actually happening outside. Try it. has remained the same.
Time to prune all the extra rooms.
When should the party be? I was thinking it should be later today, before everyone forgets about it. It is important that we take into account the different time zones when setting the time.
There are audio notifications. People just need to keep it open in a tab. That way they can browse and it will make a sound when someone enters.
I’m not allowed in the chatrooms :-(

I’d say I was in, but with my intermittent internet connection I probably wouldn’t be able to make it anyway. But I’ll try. :)
Ok, I am going to set a time for the party as today at 4:00 pm EST, or 1:00 Pacific time, or 9:00 GMT, so in about one and a half hours. Any later would mean very late at night for those in Europe. PM everyone you know, and tell them to join the party in the Watering Hole chat room.
I won’t be able to since I stealth fluther from work but this is a great idea and I’ll send out a group email to the people I know still/once fluthered. Fluther could use a party right about now.

That was just pretty cool, XO!! Except…it didn’t go on for hours! Just for one hour! In the middle of the day! I think I still have the screen print of Auggie leaving and immediately coming back in…shucks. I lost it.
Yeah but remember sometimes you see someone inside but he/she ‘s already in idle mode and can’t chat or just closed their browser.

It took me awhile to learn how to do it too when I first saw other people do it. That was over 9 years ago at this site, so it was easy for me to learn how to do it here when I joined.

But in all seriousness, I just leave it open, and do other things on another tab. Half the time I’m not even at the computer. I just leave my laptop on. hah.
