Simple Filemaker files: any way I can turn them into CSV on a machine that does not have a copy of Filemaker?

Asked by marmoset (1311points) September 23rd, 2011

I’m running Mac OS 10.7 (Lion). I have several Filemaker files (.fp7) that I know contain only plain text in their fields, nothing fancy.

I have no copy of Filemaker and I’m on a slow network (so I don’t, for example, want to download a trial or other version of Filemaker).

Is there any simple 3rd party sw, conversion website, or other solution I can use to convert these files into CSV output?

(My goal is to be able to import the data these files contain into Bento, which I do have on this machine. Bento definitely won’t open the existing .fp7 files.)

I have a copy of FileMaker Pro. If you want to email the file to me I will convert it for you. I will PM you my e-mail address.

Thank you for the fantastic offer! Apparently this is fixed now (I was trying to open/manipulate these for a friend) but you’re awesome to offer.

Hi, I’d like to know whats the difference between FileMakerPro and Word Excell.

dreamwolf, that deserves to be its own question; go ahead and ask it that way (include more detail about what you want to do so people can help you better).

FMP offers WAY more flexibility and power than Microsoft Excel, but also costs way more and takes more time to learn. THis is why your question should mention what you need to accomplish.
