Odd request #394- would you send out healing thoughts to my dog today?

Asked by WillWorkForChocolate (23163points) September 28th, 2011

My geriatric doggie is having surgery to remove a tumor. Would you mind sending her healing thoughts, or say a sweet little “doggie prayer”?

I’m paranoid that because of her age, she’s not going to make it through the surgery. :(

@WillWorkForChocolate Absolutely! I’ll even make the cat chime in for good measure… After all, when a cat prays for a sick pup… God/The Universe/EF Hutton (For atheists) ...listens.

Sending light and peace and love to your baby! ♥ ♥ ♥

Thanks guys! Hopefully, I’ll hear from the vet in about an hour or so.

@SpatzieLover What a coincidence! =0)

SpatzieLover's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate ;) I don’t believe in coincidences. ;)

Coloma's avatar

Of course!

What is her name?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@SpatzieLover Perhaps we were so in synch with each other yesterday, because both our doggies were due to have surgery today? =0)

@Coloma Her name is Sierra.

@WillWorkForChocolate I love the name. Just a thought, don’t use it on the security questions.

I will pray for your doggie and I hope she will be okay. :) Also here’s a hug, I’m sending your way! (Hugs) Tell us how it goes, okay?

thorninmud's avatar

Sent out my thought and received this reply, which I dutifully forward:

“Dear Sir,

Thank you for your concern. Yes, I know the chocolate woman loves me dearly. She has amply demonstrated that in more ways than you could know, not least by bringing me here. We’ll see what this old body is still capable of. Whatever happens, I count myself immeasurably lucky to have known and served such a loving pack, and will gladly carry on if I’m able.

Sniffs and wags,
Sierra”

Sending out healing thoughts.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@thorninmud That was really sweet, and cute!

Just got the call from the vet. They removed the tumor with no complications. She made it through and is beginning to wake up; it looks like she’s going to be okay.

Thanks guys!

<<< will pass the message to his pussycat.

Great, @WillWorkForChocolate !

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Hey, no high fives for me. I didn’t do anything besides sit here and restlessly bounce my legs. My dog should get the “high paws” for making it through surgery at age 13! Isn’t that like 91 in dog years?

JilltheTooth's avatar

Zuppy is very relieved, too moved to respond himself at the moment… me, too

Zaku's avatar

Yes, absolutely!

beccagolling's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate I am so happy your dog is okay! :DD

@Adirondackwannabe She’s a “schnoodle” lol. Part miniature schnauzer and part toy poodle.

Coloma's avatar

Yay! She’ll be back to her old doggy self in no time. :-D

Sloppy wet kisses to Sierra. And a few hugs for her concerned mom.

Berserker's avatar

Dude, your dog is badass. I’m happy to hear that went well. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery. :)

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Thanks, everyone! She has to wear a silly collar and she’s still stoned. :D But she seems okay.

AmWiser's avatar

I know it’s after the fact, but I’m happy to hear your dog is fine.
Ummm! Stoned is good.:DDD

JilltheTooth's avatar

She’ll be picking 128 channels for a few days, and maybe Sirius radio…hahaha

Pandora's avatar

Yeah! Happy to hear she is fine. I wish her a speedy recovery.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@JilltheTooth Actually, knowing her “temperament” from when she had to have her teeth removed (her previous owners never did a frikkin thing to take care of her), she’ll probably just ride high on her pain meds, sleep a lot and need me to help her with her food and water. It hurts seeing her age like this, though, losing all her teeth and having tumors… :(

We tried to save her teeth after we adopted her, but the damage was too extensive. My hubby is a little miffed that we’ve had to spend so much money on “a dog”, but I’m just happy to know that instead of getting a puppy from a breeder, I adopted a senior dog from the SPCA and fixed her up as best I could. Tooting my own horn a little. And I adore my geriatric furbaby; she’s the sweetest and most well-trained dog ever! :P

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate My two dogs were abandoned by their former owner and they latched on to me with the most love and devotion I’ve ever experienced. They were on all kinds of meds as they got older. I stopped at the vets one afternoon to pick up some more of them. The office girl asked me why I was there and I said I was just driving by and had some money in my wallet and just thought I’d drop it off. My vet and the office manager burst out laughing. I never regretted a penny I spent.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe LOL, yeah the vet can get expensive. It was about $300 to have her teeth removed, and we just dropped $400 yesterday for her tumor removal. Poor doggie and poor checkbook, haha!

And she’s latched onto me like that, too. I’m her mommy, as far as she’s concerned. Anytime I’m at home, she’s on me “like white on rice”, lol. If I’m in my bedroom, she prefers her crate though.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Yeah, mine didn’t sit next to me, they set on me. We dropped $600 a couple of times for intestinal surguries. A dog collar and a rock. I miss them.

SpatzieLover's avatar

Let Sierra know we’re thinking of her. Sending healing prayers her way. :)

The former sets of owners of our Jack Russell Mikey had were pretty horrid, too…but he made it to 17 and was the light of our lives, so all the money we spent was more than fair for the amount of love he showered us with.

Don’t ask me about my cat that cost more than $2K so far…Luckily, she is a lovely girl. The puppy is sleepies today, but healing well

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Post-op update: Sierra is physically doing well, but I have to keep fussing at her for trying to lick at her sutures. She also dribbled teetee on herself after surgery and I am not allowed to bathe her for another week. She smells really foul and I have to keep “cleaning” her fur with baby wipes and spritzing her with doggie deodorizing perfume stuff, just to keep myself from gagging.

Y’all keep your fingers crossed for me; my whole bedroom reeks of grody nasty smelly icky dog. The stink is truly horrendous- and that’s no exaggeration. bleck

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate They didn’y put the cone on her head? Good luck!

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe She’s got the cone, yes, but that doesn’t stop her from trying desperately to lick and scratch. My poor little lampshade doggie, haha.
