How do you make crispy flour tacos?

Asked by Impressions (39points) May 9th, 2008

I prefer flour tacos to the corn tacos but I don’t care for the soft tortillas. How do you make them crisp without frying them?

You can bake them. Setting on toast in a toaster oven is easiest, however they have to be folded in the shape you want them first because you can’t bend them afterwards. Use foil wadded inside. They do break rather easily though. I use them this way for a bread or snack when flat. A tiny bit of melted butter and cinnamon sugar. Yum!

You can definitely bake them into the taco shape in the oven (lay them over something that will hold shape and is oven safe), but be careful because they will get brittle really quickly. Spray or butter whatever you are using as your shape maker..

Thanks for your answers. I’ll definitely try both ways.

I know this is late, but what the heck… I only like flour tortillas and I cook them the same way I do my boyfriends corn tortillas. I fry mine in oil just to the point to where they get all fat and airy not brown! They are GREAT with chicken tacos. Mmmmm
