I quite like a simple bell tinkling. For some reason, I always drool when I hear it.
A doorbell that screens solicitors.
Maybe the sound of a trapdoor opening and their startled cry as they fall down a chute that swooshes them back from whence they came.

A nice simple ding-dong that gets quieter with each push of the button sounds good. I can’t stand persistent pushers. If I don’t answer, it’s because I am not home or don’t want to. Take the hint.
