How do I do really sexy false eyelashes?

Asked by emeraldisles (1949points) October 8th, 2011

I’m going to buy a pair of the classic black falsies at the drug store. I already have a pair of green ones I got for Halloween. When I looked up applying them it said I need to use the eyelash curler on my own real lashes before I apply them. Well the eyelash curler I have isn’t that great and I don’t have $30 bucks to spend on getting a new one. Can I apply the falsies without curling my lashes before? I do have the black volumizing lash blast mascara from maybelline. Also how do I take them off without ripping off any of my real lashes?

Yea, don’t get the eyelash curler. I personally think they make a negligible difference. Good lashes will do wonders. And you’re better off investing in a good mascara and lashes than a curler.

To take them off, I usually hold onto one fake lash hair on the outside end of my eye and pull gently, it’ll come off a little then I keep pulling and it peels of easily. If you glue them on correctly they won’t really hurt and won’t catch your real lashes. Just don’t pull em off all of a sudden. Slow and steady.

You could look for stuff at a local thrift store or salvation army, but the main reason I’m answering is because you should touch up on your grammar a bit, aside from that your all good.

@XOIIO: Now that you mention it, You should check your grammar; aside from that you’re all good.

You don’t touch up on grammar; you don’t touch up grammar either.

Be careful when you cast the first stone.

To me, sexy false eyelashes is a contradiction in terms.

@gailcalled Have you ever had to deal with iPhone well, iPod autocorrect? It has a wonderful feature where it changes the word and doesn’t even tell you.

gailcalled's avatar

No, not really. Better to choose your battles if you know that iPod has a mind of its own (note that my iMac doesn’t change that to it’s).

Does it also change idiom or usage? Come on, man up.

@gailcalled True, I’m too lazy to get up and walk a couple feet to use a real web browser.

How about that beautiful brain?

@gailcalled how about what?

I agree, @gailcalled. It does seem a contradiction in terms. Ouch. Never use anyone’s mascara or anything personal like a brush or razor. Geez…put mascara on your own lashes and flutter them around with a big smile. It works everytime.

It appears from your question that you have not tried fake eyelashes before. However they are worth the look. I never believed in them and the first time I used them, I was hooked. They make your eyes appear gorgeoussssss. You don’t even notice they’re on after 5 minutes. When I had them in for this one event, I kept touching my eyes to check if they were even there cause I couldn’t feel them. I suggest either do a few practice runs before putting them in for the occasion.

I thought they were glued on. Is that how you put them on, @Jellie?

I’ve watched both women and men glue fake eyelashes on other people. I am fascinated to be honest. I don’t know if I could stand having it done. If done correctly by a professional, it looks great.

Initially, I could only put them on other people and not on myself. My hands are shake-y.

I have a friend I haven’t seen in years. When you mentioned fake eyelashes I thought about her. She was Suzanne Sugarbaker with bleached blond, spiked hair and a Southern accent (haha). I loved that girl. She was soo funny. She’d say, “Like my Momma always said, ‘If you aint’ got nothing good to say ‘em, come sit beside me.’ ”

Personally, I would always curl my lashes with false ones. I think it’s obvious and sloppy when it isn’t done. As for the curler itself – no one has any business paying $30 for an eyelash curler unless it’s the heated kind (which are freaking amazing). Pick up a $12 curler at your drugstore. In my opinion, the difference is worth it. It blends the false eyelashes better, period.

For removal, just pick a side (I prefer the outer corner) and pull down and forward sweeping across your lid. I’ve never pulled out a lash that wasn’t probably about to fall out, and certainly not enough to worry.

Thanks everyone. When I tried applying the green falsies with the rest f my eye makeup my hazel eyes appeared greener which I love. The eyelash curler I have is from Avon and really isn’t that great so I will keep looking for one that works on my lashes.

bkcunningham's avatar

I’ve never used an eyelash curler. They make heated eyelash curlers? I didn’t know that.

emeraldisles's avatar

Yeah if you use the heated eyelash curler before you apply mascara, your lashes are supposed to have extra lift and will stand out more.

I agree with not getting a curler. Just get a good mascara.
