General Question

As part of the follow-up question to my last question (link provided), which Nikon camera should I pick?

Asked by SassyPink (284points) October 8th, 2011

Don’t worry, this will be the last camera-related question for now. I guarantee you. :]

First of all, I would like to thank those of you for answering my last question . The answers were all very helpful and I really appreciated them (Thanks everyone!). So I decided to narrow my final choice down to a coolpix s80 . At first, I initially only wanted to get a S80 because it includes other nice features i.e as a stereo. But then I recently discovered another new Nikon camera that I also might like, the coolpix s1100pj (one of the very recent models). After I did a little research about this camera, I thought about how nice it would’ve been to have a camera that plays a little slide show of pictures like you would do on any PowerPoint presentation. I believe that this model pretty much includes most of the same/similar features as the s80. The only huge difference is the built-in projector. (Although the camera is a little more pricier than the s80 for that very reason.)

In my last question, I mention that I’m interested in buying a new camera before the holidays, particularly the ones with a LSD touch display. Generally, I would like to take pictures of nature, sky scrapers, and other social events i.e. b-day parties, concerts, and fireworks. In a way, I was trying to look for a camera that fits my style.

Which camera would you recommend? Should I still continue to get an s80 or try to get the s1100pj instead? What will be the pros and cons for owning either one of them?

@jaytkay Yep. Both of these models have a touch display feature.

I’d go with the latter, cool personal features on it.

if you consider canon sx210,220 or 230 you will find them better but then price is also high. For digital camera somehow i like canon to be the best, followed by sony and then nikon

I would go with the newer of the two models. I believe the S1100 is the newer one of the two you mentioned. That will probably have more features and higher resolution (megapixels). But, on the flipside, will be more expensive, but worth it. Nikon is a great camera.
