you will probably have to work out for a while…

You do not just instantly get muscles. If you work out once or twice it won’t get you bigger. It is consistently working out that does the trick. You don’t even have to do it for that long. I lift weights before I go to bed everynight for like 10 mins and usually I can do more everynight but I haven’t seen any appearance changes…

Dont take steroids! There bad for your health…

lol don’t worry, I’m not gonna do steroids. I just wanna look decent this summer, instead of being really scrawny and skinny. I’m only 140 lbs and most of my ribs are visible, and my back is almost just as bad. I’ll probly just start working out during lunch hour at school, and maybe go to the YMCA too.

Use anaerobic exercises, you short bursts of fast reps and you will rip the muscle tissue faster, but you will have to do it for a long time.

The book Body 4 Life has a pretty good regimen that gets you maxed out every workout (3x week weights and 3x week cardio). You max out to tear up your muscle and then take a day off to rebuild. His food suggestions are spectacularly terrible, but effective.

cardio and protein shakes!
seriously though, lifting weights and drinking protein shakes have made some of my friends twice their size in a semester, the only thing is you have to make sure you’re doing it, you can’t slack off

You can bulk up quickly by using creatine and a regular hevay lifting/low rep workout. Even like this you are going to have to maintain through diet. It will take about 6 weeks for a noticable diff. Once you stop taking the creatine it will leave your muscles quickly so you will shrink.

I’m 6’ and your weight. I have been trying to bulk up for fifteen years. I have worked out and have drank the shakes and eaten the pills. I can get more definition but I have never been able to add weight. And I have tried stuffing my face for months. I just was never able to put on any weight.

People always said that I would add weight when I got older. I’m 30 and still skinny.

I’m not trying to discourage you. I just want to know that it is really hard for some people to bulk-up.

BE CAREFUL WITH CREATINE PLEASE. Yes it is effective, but for a small percentage of the population, it can be very dangerous. I had a roommate in college who almost died from taking it because his body naturally produced a high amount to begin with. When he added the extra creatine to his naturally elevated amount it was essentially an overdose. I would consult with a physician before taking it. That said, it is one of the more effective means of improving your workouts. It basically gives you extra energy so you can perform longer/better and thereby get results more quickly.

@kevbo, agreed! Body 4 life works for those wanting to bulk up and those wanting to shed fat.
