What are your thoughts on art done through the computer which mimic brushes?

Asked by whitetigress (3129points) October 16th, 2011

I was browsing through Tumblr and I came upon Rostam.Tumblr.Com (Vampire Weekends Keys Man) And he does alot of fun work through iPad. There are lots of strokes that look like real life brushes. I personally don’t have a problem with it, but what are your thoughts on digital brushes/strokes?

I think it’s brilliant. It takes just as much talent to create a piece of work like that as it does with a real brush and paint.

I like it, it’s great fun to do and it makes a lot less mess than real paint.

Art is bound by nothing. Technology is no different.

What is the difference between manipulating a computer or manipulating a brush? Each takes a different set of finger skills, but in the end it is the eye that counts.

Paintbrush effects in Photoshop or Gimp can often make otherwise poor photographs come alive.
