Is there a way to fix the way Android treats compilation albums?

I’ve been an Android user for a couple of years now. Only recently have I started having problems with the way Android groups compilations and multi CD albums. When I place music on my SD card, it always makes 7 to 12 albums from one album. I was just wondering if anybody in the fluther found an easy solution to this, because this pretty much makes my android phone useless as an MP3 player if it can’t handle tags right.

My problem is that I create lists and I don’t really know where the songs come from on the phone. I can’t see the songs by directory, as far as I know, and that’s how I organize the ones I want.

I generally import mine from Windows Media Player (the only real use I have for that program) and double-check the tags before transferring. Mine always show up properly when viewing by Album, and I set the tags to read “Various Artists” for the Album Artist for compilations/soundtracks.
