How can I incorporate my vintage receiver into a new stereo system?

Asked by andrew (16543points) May 12th, 2008

I’ve been running my stereo from a wonderful, warm, vintage Marantz receiver into a couple good-quality speakers, mostly for playing LP’s.

My new place has 5.1 speakers wired into the walls… so, can I (should I) incorporate the Marantz into the new receiver I get?

If you really love it, you’ve got to keep it.
Most new kit doesn’t have phono out either.
Assuming you have the space and the receiver has enough ins and outs, you could add it in to a modern set up. Dolby 5.1 just needs a stereo line in/out from somewhere.
