Six Feet Under. I mean, they literally showed the whole cast dying one at a time, I’m pretty sure I cried. It was really suiting, and I thought it was beautifully done.. but it was sad.

Second sadest, season 9 when David Tennant regenerated, and said “I don’t want to go”.

Sadest was when he had to wipe Donna’s memory, and she would never be able to remember him again.

Ok, really? Doctor Who, the end of the 10th Doctor. Second saddest, wiping Donna’s memory. But, since @XOIIO already said that (but, reversed…)

Lost. ‘Member that one episode where a beloved character dies? I’m just kidding, that’s every episode. But season 3, the death of Charlie? Yup.

Torchwood, end of season 2. With Tosh being helpless to save Owen, and the both of them knowing they are going to die. Plus, knowing that the show will never again be as awesome as the first two seasons were… I know when I first watched it I just lay on the couch for ages after, emotionally exhausted.

When Ten had to wipe Donna’s memory, that’s definitely up there for me as well, probably equal first. Heartbreakingly tragic.

@iphigeneia Torchwood, Season 3, the last 2 episodes? And for me, having just discovered Torchwood right before Season 3, fresh off the heals of Season 2…

Smallville went from amazing to total crap in a few episodes. It was depressing to see the finale and know that was the death of a good series.

@Aethelflaed You mean the last two episodes of Children of Earth? That’s two thirds of it! But the whole thing was basically a tear-fest, I agree! Only in my opinion it lacked a lot of the cheeky humour and personality of the earlier episodes, so I wasn’t as disappointed to see it end.

Oh, I’ve got another one. Final scene of the final episode of Blackadder. Though not so much depressing as like receiving a punch in the guts.

@ANef_is_Enuf got it. Six Feet Under. Amazing show. Nobody gets through that series finale with dry eyes though.

Seinfeld, when the show ended with a trial and the characters sent to jail….after 9 years of laughters and tears from over laughing.

Not a season finale, but the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama made me about cry.

For several years, I told everyone I knew how good Battlestar Galactica was.
Then they ended a season by having different characters reciting the words to Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower”. It sucked.
Suddenly, I am trying to remember who I told about this show, because I wanted to apologize for the turkey it turned into.
The show came back to form the next season, but it was a long break.

@Aethelflaed It was way sadder wiping donnas memory because we know the doctor will always be around, but she had everything gone and he had to leave her behind.

Honorable mention to Buffy season 5, ending with Buffy’s death (okay, we “knew” she’d be back, but still…)

But the winner goes to M*A*S*H season 3, ending with Radar’s incredibly emotional and unforgettable line: “I have a message from ICOR. ‘Lt. Col. Henry Blake’s plane… was shot down over the sea of Japan…. it spun in…. there were no survivors’”. As he turns and leaves, and you see all the Doctors and nurses having to continue the surgeries they were in the middle of, not even being able to grieve properly due to the damnable war…. it was just heart breaking. Makes me mist up even now just thinking about it.”

(and I also agree with all the Doctor Who & Torchwood answers)

@ANef_is_Enuf – Damn, I couldn’t resist. I went to youtube and watched that Six Feet Under ending again (with the Sia song). Let’s just say that show really hit something in me – how uncomfortable I am with death.

Sniff. Damn these allergies.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@tom_g haha, so did I. I was actually going to come back this morning and mention that I watched the YouTube video and cried again, even though I haven’t seen the show in years. Good ending.

I agree with @Aethelflaed about when Charlie died on LOST. I cried over a damn TV show, knowing full well that Dominic Monaghan was alive and well, but seeing his character die was really sad!

Dexter season 4.

trinity killed rita :(

End of Season 2, Torchwood.
I’m not even going to talk about Children of Earth because I thought the last episode was total bullshit (not even talking about the Ianto ordeal…that was the second to last episode I think).

XOIIO's avatar

@martianspringtime I totally agree with that too.

Also when owen dies, for the second time, that really sucked :(
