Toupees, Rogaine, and Propecia.
More costly up front (but not so much if you’re young) are hair transplants.

@Nullo, Any idea how much hair transplants cost? I heard they cost quite a bit. Is it a one time thing or has to be done at intervals throughout their life?

@raven860 No data. Since the hair being transplanted is your own, there’s a finite amount and you’d better hope that you won’t have to do it again.

I seem to recall something that was in between the toupee and the hair transplants, but nothing comes to mind.

Male hair loss prevention is a big industry; a few hours with the Google ought to work wonders. Watch out for offers that sound too good to be true, use words like “instant” or otherwise offer a short timeframe.

Best of luck to you!

There’s also just embracing your baldness. I have a couple of men friends who just decided to shave their heads when they realized they were losing the battle against hair loss and have never looked back. My best male friend told me he had decided to shave his head, on the phone, and I was a little worried about it. The next time he came to visit me I worried all the way to the trains station to pick him up and I stood their waiting for him to come down the steps at the station and was very nervous but he looked fine. Now I can’t imagine him any other way.

Get a collection of great hats or as @lillycoyote said, embrace your baldness.

Embrace your baldness and be yourself.

Loss of hair can be very sexy, unless a guy becomes all self conscious about it. Self-doubt and insecurity is never sexy. Check out Vin Diesel, Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard), Bruce Willis, Jason Statham to name just a few….

Hair transplants look horrible and a bad transplant leaves scars that look MUCH worse than a bit of sexy skin on top.

@lillycoyote ; I have a plastic surgeon friend who had the whole side hair and nothing on top thing going on. I told him that he should embrace it! He is in the image business and it made him look way older than he was. When he did, not only did he look HOT, his practice started booming.

Believe me, just shaving it all off is much sexier than clinging to the remnants.

Own your true self. You’ll be more confident and glad that you did. Live with no regrets. Either shave off the rest of your hair, or do as my husband does and keep a nice short, well-maintained haircut.

@Judi It’s a really great look for some guys. It’s interesting that your friend’s practice increased after he went for the shaved head look. And if a guy shaves his head he’s no longer balding, he’s got that shaved head look. The only thing I can’t deal with is actually watching my friend shave his head. I’m always afraid he’s going to cut himself because for the majority of the “procedure” he has to just feel his way around the cue ball. :-) It’s not like shaving some part of your body you can see, but he’s gotten pretty good at it. And I think it makes him look younger too.

Most hair restoration procedure cut a large strip of hair/skin from the back of your head and then cut it up into very small pieces and then transplant them into your balding area(s). The problems with this include: it is expensive; it will result in a huge scar on the back of your head as well as more transplants in the future to keep pace with your natural balding. Also you will have to continually have to use expensive chemicals and do laser light treatments on your head that may cause other problems besides not significantly help you to grow or slow down the loss of hair.

If money is no object for you there is a new procedure called follicular unit extraction “FUE” technology. FUE is an extremely expensive and tedious procedure. This is where they extract single hair micro grafts from any hairy area of your body and then transplant them on your bald areas. Unfortunately you will still have to still take chemical and laser hair treatments as well as more FUE treatment to keep pace with your balding. If you just get one hair treatment then you will eventually look very weird with a patch of hair on top bordered by baldness.

My advice: Go natural. You will look good and have a lot more money and time.
