Your day off.....how do you spend it?

Asked by BeccaBoo (2725points) November 8th, 2011

So you have been given the luxury of having a whole 24hrs to yourself, with no interruptions.

You don’t have to lift a finger, be any where or see anyone.

What are you going to do with all those hours?

I would sleep for those extra 3 hrs, bath for 2, then make cupcakes, cookies, mini pizzas and spend the day chilling and stuffing my face with all the treats I had made.

Then by about 5ish, be on my cross trainer (the guilt would have well and truly kicked in) and then shower, pub…..(because I need some social stimulation) and then grab my man and BED!!! whoop…oh I so wish!!

Damn I wish I had a job. I just do the internet all day. Well after class anyways.

At the moment, study. If it were summer, just sit around and watch T.V. I buy alot of movies from the $5 movie bin at Wal*Mart and VHS tapes from my library for 50 cents and never have time to watch them, so I catch up with them then.
I’ll be sure to come to Fluther often too.

I’d sleep a couple extra hours and then do my normal morning routine, then get my compass, some extra water, and my gun, and walk into the woods and commune with nature for the rest of the day.I’m tired of the tech world.

Go on a day trip or putter around the house. Days off at this little capsule I am in for a few months yet are for resting up before the grandkids are born! If one works M to F, can there be anything more luxurious than a Saturday morning?!!!

BeccaBoo's avatar

@smilingheart1 in my house Saturday mornings are mad, but Sundays I have trained my kids to sleep in for a while, oh its bliss!! Then we have that long leisurely brunch, followed by a walk down by the beach, with them on their bikes…....but still would be nice if there were more days like that.

How do you have weekend days with no obligations? Sometimes I run errands (and it takes the whole day). Sometimes I watch football, play online (Fluther), read, take a “nap” with my husband, etc.

Catch up on my reading. I have a stack of books just waiting to be read and never seem to have the time to really read anymore.

Sleep in and spend the morning in bed with my wife. Scare up a nice brunch and go for a long walk in the woods. Do a couple errands and take the wife shopping. Go out for a fancy dinner and come home to settle on the couch for a movie. Finally a candle lit jacuzzi with the wife, trade massages and crawl back under the covers.

Cycling, a movie or two, play a lot more with my pets, sleep.

I would catch up on TV that I had missed during the week, Fluther a bit, read a bit and by that point I would probably want to see someone.

Hmmm. I hate to say it but I might just want to get in some uninterrupted fluther time. I also might want to do one of my long term projects, like digitizing my letter collection. Or the videos. If it’s a nice day, I want to get outside and ride my bike or find some entertainment. Maybe meet with a friend to do something fun.

As a homemaker, I never get a day off. There is the same amount of work to do every single day of the week, and if I choose to skip a day, the work just piles up and gets worse.

Stay at home workers never get any holidays, vacations, weekends or days off.

TheIntern55's avatar

@wundayatta They’re gonna have to make a 50K award for you if you went on uninterrupted Fluther.

beccagolling's avatar

Get some chocolate some rootbeer and lay in bed all day long reading a good manga and watching anime. Then maybe playing some video games! Ahhh a perfect day that would be! :D

wundayatta's avatar

@TheIntern55 No, they need to give me uninterrupted time. An award doesn’t help with that. Besides which, I’m not arguing that I should spend more time here. I’m just saying that’s the pathetic thing I would probably do if I had that kind of time. It’s hopeless, really.

OpryLeigh's avatar

@YARNLADY I think the question is hypothetical hence why @BeccaBoo called this 24 hours of freedom from chores etc a luxury.

sophiesword's avatar

I’d probably start it off with a little bit of porn:P

Go to the salon and get fine tuned.

A lot of music.

HungryGuy's avatar

Sleep until noon. Hang out on Fluther for a while. Eat something. Play Portal or Dead Island or GTA IV for a while. Click on my YouTube music video playlist. Eat something. Check in on Fluther again. Take a long hot shower. Eat something. Turn off the music. Play Portal or Dead Island or GTA IV. Go to bed.

@HungryGuy Whoa! Dude! Where’s the slave?

HungryGuy's avatar

@wundayatta – In her cage :-p

Sleep, play games, watch movies. Good thing I’m active during the week, otherwise I’d probably become obese. :/

AshLeigh's avatar

Wake up at about 9. Eat donuts. Go for a run. Take a VERY long bubble bath. Watch NCIS. Write some stuff. Fluther. By then it’s about 2 PM-ish.
Basically what I do on Weekends.

I am going to assume that this is a fantasy day off, with not too much restriction on funding! If so, I would like to go with a girlfriend to a spa, go to the sauna, get a fantastic massage (I have always wanted to try the hot stone massage, it’s supposed to be great) and then go shopping. I would try on all sorts of things just for fun and to see how they look on me. Then, having found the perfect outfit to suit my mood, I would wear it. Instant gratification.

I would go to the museum and look at all kinds of things to get inspired. We would then break for lunch and linger over a couple glasses of wine and have a great conversation. After that we would go our separate ways.

I would go home and just chill and listen to music, waiting for my husband to come home. If the weather were nice I would go for a walk in the park. Once my husband got home, well, I would be so happy and relaxed that we would make mad passionate love, collapse in each other’s arms and remember how we used to be when we first met. imagining this was nice, but now I feel like I need to make it happen, lol

Hey Earthgirl, you need to do that. He’ll love it too.
