Asked by itsjustcruel (387points) November 9th, 2011

If I wanted to go into a carrer in teaching, preferably High school GCSE Design Engineering, what grades would I need to get in my GCSE exams, and would I need to take A levels? I have searched the net but I can’t find what im looking for.

Assuming you’re in the UK you would need grade A-C passes in maths, english and a science GCSE. You would need A-levels. You would probably need at least an upper second class honours degree preferably in the subject you want to teach and you would need a qualification that confuts newly qualified teacher (NQT) status such as post graduate certificate of education (PGCE).

Yes – as @Lightlyseared put it so well!

Here’s a link to what you need to get into teacher training, the PGCE one-year course you do after your degree.

Be warned, when you get there (in c.6 years time) it will be the hardest year of your life to date…. but worth it. :-)
