What kind of reptile seems fitting for me?

Asked by bluejay (1014points) December 7th, 2011 from iPhone

I’m looking for a lizard that eats only insects and can fit in a 15 gallon tank comfortably. Preferably a species known for being even tempered so I can handle him sometimes. I’m a beginner so he has to be an easily manageable one. Any ideas?

Well nix a Komodo Dragon, you’d have to keep it in a 15 foot pen and feed it goats. lol
Hmmm…..a Chameleon perhaps.

Maybe research small insect eating lizards or….vegetarian lizards to start. Have fun!

Give geckos a try! Here’s a fact sheet about Leopard Gecko care to give you an idea of what to expect.

And on the up-side, if they get loose they’ll help keep your house insect free :D though that’s probably not recommended.

oh yeah! geckos are pretty domestical pets.

I’m thinking gecko but I want to research into a few more ideas first. What about an emerald swift?

Aren’t you the animal collector with a sick dog and you’re trying to save up for him? Why get another animal?

bluejay's avatar

@Jude I’m not an animal collector. My pets are healthy and happy. I’m not getting a reptile. This is an old question. My dog has heart worms and that’s it. I’m saving money to help her. Thanks for your concern, but my pets are fine and in good hands.

This just popped up in my questions for you. Glad that you’re not getting any more animals.
