General Question

Will you make an effort to watch the (red) lunar eclipse tomorrow?

Asked by zensky (13418points) December 9th, 2011

Do you take the time to gaze?

The kids literally mark the day and time in their calendars and remind me – they love it so much.

Will it have an affect on you at all?

It was an absolute pleasure to see the red lunar eclipse a few years back. I would love to view it this year, but that is entirely dependent on the sky. It’s been pretty cloudy out here. And I’m in a California suburb – there are so many lights on that it makes most astronomical phenomena quite difficult to observe.

But I’ll be outside watching anyway :) Thanks for the reminder.

Too early in the morning for me.

Yes! Infact I am draining and re-filling my hot tub today so it’s all ready to go by tomorrow night! :-D

I’m in the high foothills away from the city lights and have some great stargazing up here.

There’s and eclipse? Sweet. You know I saw my first meteor show (Leonids) a few years ago because of Fluther. It was sweet. And cold.

@fundevogel yeah, that was amazing.I love celestial stuff.

@zensky You were probably the one that put me onto that too.

I wish but we are not in the path of even the partial eclipse. Happily, I have a lot of notches on my lunar eclipse belt and one for a total solar eclipse. Now, that was a memorable moment.

Also, it will be cloudy tonight and early tomorrow morning.

If I were on the East coast I’d never make it until 1:33 a.m.
10:33 is late enough for me out west. haha

Here it starts at 1630 and ends around 1930. Very convenient.

@zensky Take a picture. Use a telephoto lens and a tripod if you have it.

I would love to, but not enough to get up at 4:30 A.M. And it will be on the wrong side of the building and really cold out. So, realistically, no. I’ll be snuggling in my cozy bed. I’ll think of you all and wish a little bit that I was still motivated to get up and at it. I’d get up to see the Northern lights. I think.

Nah, need an excuse to try to survive another 3yrs until the next one.

Gah, I tried but crashed. Though the moon did look huge and beautiful when I looked.

I woke up in time to see it, but it was on the other side of the building and I couldn’t, as expected. Went back to bed and slept another 4 hours.
