Do you find yourself consistently on the same threads with the same subset of users?

Asked by Imadethisupwithnoforethought (14682points) December 14th, 2011

When you go to answer a question that is of interest to you, do you have suspicions as to which Jelly-folk will have already answered, or will answer within a few hours?

Do you skip some questions that you are interested in because you have already talked with those folks a lot recently?

Are there some jellies who show up at a mansion party you have never seen before, because they frequent the questions you dismiss?

Not really, but I tend to notice users I’ve interacted with more often.

Yes, I do often see the same sets of jellies in different Qs on the same subject matter.

I don’t skip a question unless I feel it has been answered adequately, and I don’t think I can add anything, but not because of who i see has already answered it.

I do occasionally see people in the party threads (or elsewhere) that I have never encountered before.

Wait! Look! There they are! Yes, to answer your Q I do, but I think it has more to do with perusing the Qs and joining in because I like the exchange with some users. There are other Qs that, although I find them interesting and might want to post on, I don’t, because I’ll notice a bunch of users that I don’t get along with and find contentious. Not so far here, though… :-D

I only answer questions that @JilltheTooth has answered. I’m a creepy comment stalker, mwuahaha!

Here we go. Who’s next? Wunday? Janbb? Plethora? Dominicx? Yarnlady? Etpro?

Um, yeah, I see the same jellies a lot. I like those jellies. Once ina while I don’t answer if everyone has heard it before, but usually I go ahead and repeat myself, usually stating I have said it before.

This is the department of redundancy department.

No. I am new to flutter… seems nice.

I don’t notice this so much but I do notice new names that have lots of lurve and wonder, who are they? Often they are a returning user. It is nice to see that.

Welcome @oldgranmum. Nice to have you with us.

Not really. Or rather, the entirety of regular jellies a small pool. Only 415 users, ever, have reached 5k. Of those 415 users, not all are currently around. Many more have been around forever, but only check in every few weeks, or check in for a few weeks a couple times a year.

Yes, I’ve noticed that certain people are attracted to certain types of questions.

YARNLADY's avatar

I don’t pay attention.

laureth's avatar

Yes. And very often, the same ones end up arguing with me. :D

bkcunningham's avatar

That’s not true, @laureth. You might want to reconsider that statement. ; )

I was thinking recently, that there are people being given a mansion party and I never heard of them. I figure I’m not interested in the same questions they are and vice versa. I like it that I meet the same people. I get the feeling I kind of know them, as a result.

augustlan's avatar

The kinds of questions that attract me often do attract the same set of members, but the ‘set’ is always growing. Sometimes slower than others, but always upward.

When I first joined, I didn’t have any social connections and so stuck primarily to General questions. I got to recognize the jellies who live there and had some lively discussions with them. As I developed friendships, I got tired of the same contentious topics in General and moved to almost exclusively the Social and Meta sections and now I rarely see those people I first met on Fluther.

There are some who move back and forth answering questions everywhere, but it seems most people find a comfortable niche of question types and stay there.

It’s like different, incorporated cities. Fluther and Fluther Heights.

Yes, some questions I avoid because they always have people who I believe spark intense debates, which I don’t like. (Not naming names.) Same, I do go on threads with people I knwo/like/are familiar with.
But sometimes, I do meet jellies on other threads that I realize I like and will follow them.

I always expect Kardamom to answer the food related question on here, and am following that question to get loads of fun recipes off her! XD

zensky's avatar

Not really – I’m new. Could you all please introduce yourselves?

I usually like to respond to philosophical questions. Yes, there are several users that usually will get involved with these consistently like myself (can’t help it). It’s funny because I’ve been involved with fluther for about 2 years now and there are users with over 10k, 20k and very much more lurve that I never even heard of yet.
