I’m due to receive my direct deposit on Monday and I was wondering if the actual physical banks are closed will my deposit be posted?

If the bank is closed there will be no posting. It will show up in Tuesday’s transactions.

Actually, it should have posted on Friday. Typically (though not always) automatic credits to your account that normally fall on a holiday – such as Social Security – will credit on the prior business day. Automatic debits to your account – such as automatic loan payments – will come out the day after a federal holiday. An example is my mortgage. It comes out of my checking on the 5th of the month, unless the 5th is a Saturday, Sunday or Federal holiday. Then it comes out on the business day after.

Please note that I’m talking about the United States.

My check used to post electronically even on off days and holidays.

If your in the UK then Tuesday is a Bank Holiday too so it may not show in your account while Wednesday. That being said some banks (Lloyds for example) are able to let automatic transactions complete on bank holidays. Some of the smaller banks and building societies still can’t. I’m sure by the end of 2012 all but the smallest building societies will be able to credit/debit automatic payments at any time.
