Why is Fluther so laggy?

I just said the same thing to another jelly. Snail pace! (Oh and I sent this yesterday).

Okay, so it is acting up for other people. I hadn’t asked anyone about it since Wednesday night/Thursday morning… so I didn’t know if it really was just me at this point.

@ANef_is_Enuf Considerable profanity has been directed at my computer this morning. WTF. Do they have little monkeys changing the screens like the Flintstones?

I noticed the slowness this morning. Maybe they replaced the Fluther servers with ENIAC’s?

Extremely slow for me today, too.

Yeah, I actually watched this time, and it took almost a minute and a half to load this thread from the time I clicked it in my activity feed. Takes me back to my dial up days.

Yes. It is very slow. I’m not having the problem with other websites this morning. Only Fluther.

I really hope that someone knows the answer and can explain why. I understand when there is heavy traffic to a site, how this can happen… but I am really curious to know what the other causes are.

Yes…last night was slow… I kept getting this “500 internal error, please report”

What do servers have to do with the lag? Could that be the problem-o? I have no idea so I’m putting it out there for all the computer savvy Jellies.

No problem with lag from the mobile site except I’m not getting email notifications for PMs since last night. Possibly a related issue?

I could barely get it to load from my mobile last night, I haven’t tried today. Which may or may not be because I have been glued to my computer most of the day.

I haven’t had any problems, mobile or otherwise.

Last night Fluther was really taking it up the ass. I couldn’t even access the site for a good hour. And before that, pages would load (extremely slowly) one out of ten. Seems to be working fine now though.

I randomly stopped receiving notification emails for PM’s months ago, I never bothered to investigate. Sooo, who knows?

It is being slow for me sometimes as well. I’ve also recently received “Internal Server Error” messages. I sent an e-mail to the Admin at Fluther like those messages suggested to this morning around the time it was happening.

It was slow for me last night, but seems ok today. I’ll ask the techies and see if something’s going on on our end.

9 hours ago when this Q was asked, I was stumbling out of bed to go to work this morning. But last night, Fluther seemed a little slow too, but I didn’t think anything of it at the time. That happens to the internet sometimes, and I usually assume it’s a problem with my ISP rather than any specific site.

Last night the slicehost guys restarted our server, which killed the cache. This then slows everything down while the cache rebuilds. In the mean time, Andrew and I are working right now on porting the entire site to shiny new servers (because Slicehost is going away).

FFS, I am going as fast as I can people. I am new though and getting your pages up quickly gets a bit confusing. No need to swear at me!

Actually, I have had lag too. I thought it was just me. Thanks for the explanation @Ben.

True- but the serving is about a half of a shot so it is not intoxicating as much as warming. :)
