Well nutmeg contains a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, and I’ve known Pastry Chefs to walk around with whole nutmeg in their chef coat. Cinnamon has antiviral properties, and I mean, it’s the bark of a mutha fucking tree, how cool is that? They’re both up there with salt and pepper and of course, tasteful, (is there any other kind of?) seahorse porn.

Oh and thanks for returning the site boys.

The answer has to do with squids vs chickens and a few dead houseplants. Be sure to liberally dust with salt and pepper then roll in the cinnamon and nutmeg and store under a pool till the cake is mysteriously delivered.

But clove is the real secret ingredient, and maybe a splash of ginger.

Perhaps we now have a Seahorse Porn award.~ If so, earning it should be very entertaining!

everephebe's avatar

@Dog, to be “purely hypothetical”... I think for that particular award you would have to pilgrimage back to the original question, non? And give it a GQ. :D

Dog's avatar

@everephebe Gosh I hope not, it could be ever so much more creative than that.~

I was all like, hellz yeah….Cinnamon and nutmeg and then I was reading and someone said Seahorse porn and all of the sudden I found myself in that strange spot sort of like purgatory but with weird little seahorses having sex and cinnamon sticks and nutmeg smiles dancing around in the background…I dunno what happened. I did have a bout of insomnia last night so I’ve not been to sleep in over 24 hours but..What was the question? Seahorse porno tastes like cinnamon sex? ugh, I need sleep.

I don’t have a clue what you are talking about but I do know cinnamon and nutmeg smell and taste quite nice.

I get it!

When Fluther began, and the first servers were fired up, a question was asked about Salt and Pepper. As time has evolved, so has Fluther. Tonight Fluther was moved to new servers, and simple spices such as salt and pepper have been replaced by nutmeg and cinnamon!

Alternately the guys could be experimenting with a new cocktail recipe…

Or the guys just had to test the new servers and posted this to mess with us. ;)
I prefer the first option.

Now I want pancakes with orgasm topping.

It’s special because you asked @andrew.

I don’t understand all this innuendo. All I know is that cinnamon and nutmeg are what come to mind in the old saying that girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Somehow basil or cumin would not go very well with sugar.

chyna's avatar

They taste great on cinnamon toast with a little butter.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I am actually going to make pancakes for breakfast now. Really.

Good answer, @Dog. That makes sense. I hope I unlock a secret award for answering.

dappled_leaves's avatar

I like @Dog‘s answer, but I can’t help but feel that the respective shapes of cinnamon and nutmeg in their raw form are somehow important. Especially if porn is involved.

Dog's avatar

@dappled_leaves can anyone post the molecular shapes of the respective spices so we can explore your hypothesis? ;)

AmWiser's avatar

I’m cornfused and I just want to know if this means I’m gonna get my cinnameg Circumnavigator Award!
I would be much obliged. tehehehe.

Seaofclouds's avatar

Cinnamon is delicious on pancakes… just sayin’.

bkcunningham's avatar

Cinnamon is delicous on nutmeg pancakes and can be kept for awhile in the frizzer.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@Dog I was referring to the shapes of the spices, nothing so small as the molecular level. I tried to find a suggestive photo, but apparently I am the only person who thinks spices are hot.

sinscriven's avatar

Cinnamon helps reduce insulin resistance which is good for diabetics like myself.

It also makes hot chocolate taste even more awesome.

Here’s my guess: the famous salt and pepper question has been archived, so this is a new target for jellies to wonder about, speculate on, post wisecracks on, search for, and ultimately get some kind of award for posting in.

So the answer to what’s so special about them (aside from being supremely excellent spices) is that one of our fluthergods of origin has asked a question about them and the other has answered it. Later on, jellies will make pilgrimages here to receive blessings.

Am I right? I don’t know. Let’s see what happens to us after this.

I’m a sucker for awards. So I’ll leave this quip right here, just in case something magical happens later on.

Am I the only one that uses nutmeg (along with cinnamon) when making french toast? I lost in a game of trivial pursuit a couple weeks back because I said nutmeg was an ingredient in a french toast recipe.

wilma's avatar

@rpm_pseud0name I always use nutmeg in French Toast, and Mac and cheese.

Is this the mecca for 2012? Cinnamon and nutmeg are 1,905 days; 5 years, 2 months and 18 days; 45,720 hours; 2,743,200 minutes or 164592,000 seconds away from salt and pepper.

dappled_leaves's avatar

Perhaps it will be the basis for a New Timer award_.

MilkyWay's avatar

I confess, I don’t really know :/

fundevogel's avatar

In my opinion it’s the nutmeg that cinches a Jean Gabin.
