Does anyone make a scent that smells exactly like sea mist or rain?

Asked by prioritymail (1630points) January 3rd, 2012

I love these smells but have never been able to find it bottled. I’ve crossed paths with tons of products named after related ideas but they smell more like an artistic interpretation and nothing like the real thing…

No, I don’t think it’s possible. Good argument for living along the coast.

Demeter makes Salt Air and also Rain.

I’ve had fragrances from them before and always been extremely satisfied.

There’s also Ocean.

Keep in mind there are different smells for different areas of the sea too. What might be right in Puget sound wouldn’t be the same as Miami beach for instance.

@WestRiverrat Totally agree, and great point. I have never smelled something out of a lab that comes close to any variation of either sea or rain, though, so I wonder if it is possible at all. Still, they seem to be able to match virtually every scent so it must be possible… I’m going to check out @zigmund‘s suggestions :)

I’m lucky. I used to live near their store. I’ve smelled most all of their classic scents. There used to be old pipe…
And greenhouse was cool…
