Do you have a pet that annoys you sometimes?

Asked by AnonymousWoman (6531points) January 3rd, 2012

My family has two kittens. While they are adorable and fun to have around, sometimes they really frustrate me.

I will be trying to sleep and they will play fight on my feet… or they will walk all over me… or they will grab my covers or pull on my hair.

There are other times when I will be trying to read a book and at least one of them gets in the way. It is not unheard of for at least one of them to grab at the book I’m reading… or even sit in front of the words I’m trying to read and not let me read.

I know to another person, these things might be considered cute… but to me, they are annoying at the time.

Do your pets ever do things like this or other things that annoy you?

Yes, of course, my cat has mastered the art of cute-annoying. She always comes over and meows at me in the most pathetic, pity-me, fashion. And a TON of other things.

My dog snores louder than anyone else in the house. She’s doing it right now. And the other sleeping noises she makes… well.. I can only suppose that she’s dreaming about a turned over stewed beef truck.

My dog doesn’t like to drink water from a bowl so he’ll hold out and harf at us until we lift him to the sink so he can drink the running water from a faucet. He’ll do this all night and then sleep like a baby during the day.

Two:
One grabs food from our plates and has to be locked out when we eat. He then whines loudly until he is let back in.

The other occasionally does not go outside, but rather dumps where ever she is. Sometimes we notice before we step in it.

Maggie likes to surf the kitchen counter tops for a snack. She picks the time and makes a lot of noise to let us know that she is counter-surfing and hungry.

It can be 2 am or 8 pm, makes no difference to Maggie Mae.

Maggie is a big dog. Standing on her back two feet, she is almost five feet tall.

My Havanese (think white & fluffy), climbs on my chest while I’m sleeping, and proceeds to lick my face until I wake up.

What’s funny is she places one paw firmly on my chest as if she thinks she can hold me down.

Oh wait – make that three pets. My grandson has a cat that usually lives in his room, but when we let him out, he runs across the back of the furniture and the tables, then leaps on the room divider, with maximum scattering of stuff along the way. He loves it when I put a vase of flowers on top of the bookcase/room divider, or when the telephone is sitting on the table beside my chair..

The only thing I hate about my dog that’s him in my avatar is that his bark is so piercing it makes my head ache.

I have 3 cats and two small dogs, and on any given day I can guarantee that at least one of them is doing something to irritate the hell out of me.

My cat uses my house as a drop-in centre. When he is here (often in the middle of the night) he likes to wash our hair… ugh!

Number one dog – is not too bad.

Number two dog – chews my shoes if we go out and she feels seriously offended.

I have a cat that is too scared to do anything- she is especially scared of my husband (men in general!) I have a friend who has four Standard Poodles. One of them is brown in color, playful naturally, and not a pack leader. This same dog also has Addison’s Disease, and current course of treatment is Prednesone (Did I spell that correctly?) Because of the drug he is ALWAYS hungry. Even when he has just finished eating he is looking for his next meal. They have had to come up with many new places to put food (Think: in the bathroom in the linen closet!) He has a wonderful personality- nicknamed the “brown clown,” but the problems with food keeps them always looking for new hiding places!

I’ve never been annoyed by my own pets, but others people’s pets yes.. There’s a dog that barks so much and I couldn’t get him to stop… even after feeding, giving him water, playing with him, etc… It was so annoying!

Now I feel mean. Saying Jasper is a ‘drop-in cat’. He is though. Independent critter that he is. He did come home for big cuddles yesterday. I do love him lots. He is just neglecting my needs at the moment.

@Bellatrix – I am surprised that you allow your cat to run around outside destroying native wildlife. I thought you would be a protector of the environment. See here for details.

Well @rooeytoo, that would be my preference but we tried keeping him in but unless we want all the screens in the house shredded and a seriously stressed out cat, that wasn’t ever going to fly.

You need Crim Safe!!! It is cat proof as well as crim proof. Save the environment and your home and possessions.
