Can I get my new mobile phone applications/factory settings back?

Being the ignoramus that I am with new gadgets, by mistake I deleted those and from what I gather it was an irreversible action!
Is there something else I can do to get them back?

Yes, but the specific thing that you have to do to go back to factory defaults depends on the phone. For example, on an Android, go into Settings, then Security, and one of the choices should be “Reset to Defaults”.

But Nokias are different from Androids, and iPhones are different from everything else.
