Happy Ukrainian Christmas Eve! I’m missing out on some delicious cabbage rolls and perohe back at the homestead.

Glad to hear somebody else knows about this! What do you mean when you say you had seven?

@selfe I think it was meant to be a play on words.

I never liked Epiphany, January 6, when I was growing up, because that’s the day our Christmas tree came down and I wanted it to stay up forever, but since then, Epiphany is just Jan 6 and nothing more. I’m not a Christian in spite of my mother’s best efforts so the day really means nothing to me.

Gosh… I did not know about this and thus was not looking for any epiphanies.

My mom is holding her own against cancer at the moment, but out of the blue she told my father he needed a dog. If I was to say I saw anything close to an epiphany, it might be that my father found a companion in an older dog whose owner turned her in to a high kill shelter. When they met it was like love at first site for both. This dog came into their home as if she was always there, gentle and mannerly, yet always with a tennis ball in her mouth, and always at my fathers side.

Okay- so yes- I enjoyed my epiphany. Thanks!

I’m Jewish so the day of the Epiphany was not celebrated in my house, but yesterday I wished anyone who celebrates it a peaceful and joyous day. My husband used to get gifts on the Epiphany when he was growing up, they called it three kings day. My Russian girlfriend actually does gifts on the 7th. I wonder how many Christians even know or realize the 12th day of Christmas is the 6th and also the Epiphany? I would guess all practicing Catholics now? And, many Europeans do something to acknowledge the day I think. But, Americans seem to not even know the day is happening, except like I said the Catholics seem more aware. Not that I judge it. I only bother with the “big” Jewish holidays, the more minor ones I am sometimes completely unaware they are happening.

My latest epiphany is really acknowledging that my girlfriend who acheives so much does it because she keeps moving forward and completing things. I know this sounds like an obvious thing, but I have decided I need to really do the same.

We had a great one @Blondesjon…we celebrate all 12 days here, so Epiphany was bliss.

Usually we take the tree down a day or two after Epiphany, however, our tree lights are dying so we told our son that prior to down-grading the tree as an outdoor decoration for next year, he can decorate it for Valentine’s this year. Hooray!
