Lost in Space. How does it end?

Asked by DaphneT (5750points) January 7th, 2012

Does the Robinson family ever leave that planet? Do they ever get rid of what’s his name, Smith? Do they ever get back to Earth? How long did that show last?

Junkyard Of Space
Air Dates: 3/6/68 & 8/21/68
Writer: Barney Slater
Director: Ezra Stone
Guest Cast: Marcel Hillaire

Jupiter 2 lands on a planet used as the galaxy’s junkyard. With the ship’s food supply deteriorating, Smith sacrifices first the Robot’s memory banks to the mechanical junkman, then the Jupiter 2 itself.

3 Seasons, and a movie with Joey, Sirius, Roller Girl, Mrs. Kensington, Eliza Thornberry, and Harlan.

I loved the show back in the 60’s, but it got pretty stupid as it went along. All the planets looked like the same set, all the stories were solved by love, and Dr. Smith is just a bit much.

I loved Dr Smith. He made the show for me.

In those days, TV shows didn’t have conclusions. They were just cancelled, and we never got any closure. If they hadn’t decided to make a movie of it decades later, Gilligan would still be marooned on his island.

They made a movie about Gilligan’s Island?

Skaggfacemutt's avatar

It was a made-for-TV 2-part movie called “Rescue from Gilligan’s Island.”

@Skaggfacemutt, thank you for the answer. I didn’t know that.
