Has anybody got any good positive stories they'd like to share?

It just seems like we’re all getting the crap kicked out of us lately. Sick relatives, mates leaving, financial woes, pets doing poorly. Someone must have some good uplifting news.

I walked a mile on Saturday without my knees hurting.

@marinelife That’s great!
I got a good result on my Mid terms.

On Thursday I made a brave decision to cut down my part time framing job to just one day a week, as my harp teaching work is – touch wood – growing. It was a nerve-wracking decision as the framing work, albeit poorly paid, is guaranteed regular work, not dependent on school term-times, or the whims of individual pupils.

Within 24 hours three great things happened:

I was passed a wedding job (these are rediculously well-paid for only a few hours work) from another harpist,

A harp company who have seen that I’m doing a lot with a particular type of harp at the mo have offered to send me one of theirs gratis to compare it,

And a music festival in the area had found my pages on fb and want to know if there’s any way we can work together! Whoop whoop!

My new ( have had him 6 weeks this week ) cat “Myles” has settled in amazingly well and acts as if he has been here for years already.
My female who was so traumatized by me trying to introduce a very dominant younger female cat last summer, is happily playing with the new guy and they are promising to become quite the inseparable pair.
Myles is 3 times Mias’ size and a big goof, he sounds like a small horse galloping around the house and has put on more weight on his huge ragdoll frame.
He must weight at least 15 lbs. to her 6. lol

They chase each other around the yard and pastures and run up and down trees together and Myles is captivated by country living and all the strange animals on this hill.
He loves to sit on my deck railing and watch the “parade” every day of the neigh-bors.
Horse and mules and sheep and donkeys and llama all hoofing it past my deck on their way to their lower pasture in the woods below me.
Whomever lost him or turned him into the shelter at 5 years old, lost a real gem of a cat.
Their loss my gain.

Long live Myles the magnificent!

Yesterday I learned from my 11 year old that you only have to be 30 to be considered “elderly.” I’m only 29. :)

My grandmother had minor surgery this week, to replace a pacemaker (which she refers to as a “spacemaker,” in her broken English.) That went very well, and they sent her home immediately after. Her doctors and the nurses were amazed that at 87 years old, she only takes one medication (for her thyroid) and that she is in excellent health. Especially considering that the majority of her diet has always consisted of salted pork, potatoes, real butter and sour cream. And onions. Her opinion is that the onions keep her in such good health. lol.

@ANef_is_Enuf Haha, My great grandmother lived to be 98 and attributed her longevity to eating red meat 3 times a day as a farm girl and all her life. She did walk daily, never smoked or drank, but damn, the woman packed away the pot roast. lol Some people just defy the odds, I love it!

@Coloma I definitely attribute my grandmother’s health to her inability to sit still. She works harder than the vast majority of the people I know, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. But, you better believe that half of her recipes are cooked in pork fat, and she will lick the sour cream right off the spoon! lol.

I went to a swap meet on Saturday morning expecting to pay $2 for the entry fee. I went early with a friend and we got in for free. I was surprised.

The early bird gets the worm indeed.

My 7 year old son has found a renewed love of skiing and even skipped playing his new Xbox he got for Christmas today, because he was having too much fun playing with friends, in the snow outside first with his sled and, later, the skis. Yea!
His father has been spending some bonding time each night, reading him The Hobbit and he is totally into it! (they both are!)

My step son started karate this past school year and has been doing so extremely well, the instructor is moving him out of the class with the special ed kids and in with ‘normal’ students. Yea!

Their father is away for two weeks this month, so I’ll get some quiet ‘me’ time, just me and the boys.
