Do you think Nintendo should remake the NES?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) January 11th, 2012

With better technology today, surely they could remake the NES to where it actually worked. I remember the thing would blink on and off and didn’t know why. Now I read that it was due to some lockout chip resetting the console. Also, the console would yellow, making it look not so pretty.

They did. It’s called the Wii. :D

In a way, @Nullo is right. With the Wii Shop channel, they are releasing older generation console games for the Wii & calling it ‘virtual console’. Hopefully this link works… List of all Virtual Console games.

The catalog currently has 413 games. 96 of those are NES titles. They add a few more each week.

Retro gaming happens inside your PC and on the internet. Consoles are still useful because of experimental input/output but if your computer can handle a game you should play it on your computer. Consoles are slightly more portable but emulators blow that out of the water as well.

I do believe NES emulators have been around for something like 15 years. If you want the original controller you can buy those for your PC online. If you want the original console you should start a museum.
