I'm sleeping in 2 hour increments anyway to change this?

Asked by tan253 (2948points) January 14th, 2012

Third trimester pregnancy.
I have noisy neighbors whom I’ve given up on, I don’t actually need to pee at night, but I’ve just started sleeping in 2–3 hour increments and it’s really annoying.
11–2 2–4 4–6 6–8… Am I still getting benefical sleep or should I try taking something at this stage – 2 months to go!
Thanks for your advice.
x

I honestly don’t have an answer to this question but why don’t you try to talk to you obgyn and see what they say? Is is safe for you to take something like Melatonin or Tryptophan? Good luck!!

ah melatonin might be a good idea! I’ll research and ask Dr. Thanks x

Your experience is very common in late pregnancy. Happened to me too. I’ve heard it’s your body getting ready to be up with your newborn every 2–3 hours through the night!

2 hour increments? Not so bad. A bit frustrating, but if you’re getting back to sleep that’s a good thing.

You can complain to the police for public disturbance. But also a psychologist told me this. Even if you don’t hit R.E.M. which is probably what you’re craving? If your body is at rest and your eyes are closed, your body is actually receiving rest.

If your parents live close by, move in with them until your baby is born. Broken sleep can be stressful for you and your baby.

Move away from your noisy neighbors and maybe you will get some much needed sleep.

Unfortunately my family is in NZ otherwise trust me I’d be there!!!

I don’t know what to do about my neighbors they just don’t care… I think the landlord might evict them anyway as they don’t pay rent.

As @sarahsugs mentioned, your body will start getting itself ready for being up with the baby. If you do decide you want to take something to help you sleep, talk to your OBGYN first, as they know what’s been going on in your pregnancy.

I have only slept in 2 hour increments for years. I have the ipod in a dock right beside my bed. It is loaded with audible books so when I awaken, it reads me back to sleep immediately. It is annoying but apparently is sufficient for my body because I am still going.
