Do you like stomping on ice in puddles?

Asked by marinelife (62485points) January 16th, 2012

When I was a kid I loved when puddles froze with a sheet of ice on top and hollow space beneath so I could stomp on them.

I was going in my door today and I noticed a puddle covered with ice, and I went out of my way to stomp it. It put a smile on my face.

Why do we like doing that so much?

I love doing that too! I’m not sure why either….perhaps because it’s a symbol of winter? Or because of the satisfying crunch the ice makes when giving in? Or because human nature makes us automatically find joy in ruining a perfect, nature-made scene? I’m not sure. Excellent question :) Hopefully someone else has a definite answer.

It’s better than stepping on bugs. You get the crunch and squish without the bug goop.:D

@AmWiser Ugh, I would not stomp on bugs!

I liked doing that when I was a kid. Or going through huge puddles with rubber boots on, when Spring came and all the snow was melting.

Just reading about you doing it made me grin. I used to love doing that! It’s so satisfying, somehow. I’m going to have to make a point of finding an icy puddle soon. :)
