What kind of warm hat doesn't totally mess up your bangs?

Asked by sliceswiththings (11723points) January 16th, 2012

Enough said. I’m remembering that keeping your noggin warm means having flat bangs forever. Has anyone found the way around this?

ear muffs/ski head bands

Love these xxx

Doesn’t keep your head warm as such, but your ears stay nice and toasty xxx

Plus berets are good as they tend to rest in your hair rather than squash it :)

Have fun xx

Why not something like the hat on the right?
I have one of those, and I wear it right behind my bangs.

I second muffs and headbands (you can find ones with ponytail holes, too). Or you could wrap a scarf around your head.

I wear one like the one on the left in @ANef_is_Enuf‘s link and avoid flat hair… I twist my hair up into the hat, then just have a few wisps visible at the front. Works for me!

(Note, I do have the hat too large to wear without doing this, so it’s not too tight when I do do this. It’s also great for those “take hat of and swish your hair as it falls” moments!) :-)

Here’s a claim for the cloche hat:

These uber-cute 20’s inspired hats protect my bangs from getting wavy when the weather turns wet and gloomy while adding a bit of flash to my ensemble…and the best part is (are you ready for this?!) they don’t leave hat marks on your hair! Cos let’s face it ladies, while hats are adorable, they aren’t always appropriate…and who wants to wear a hat to work to just end up with hat-hair for the rest of the day in the office?!

Caveat emptor.

I had to deal with this today as we are sitting at -40c with the windchill. There is no way you can be outside for more than 30 seconds without a hat. I did my hair and then stuffed a toque over it. I have short hair and honestly my hair is a bit flat right now but it still looks fine. I’d rather be warm and frostbite free than picture perfect.
