Are North Face jackets worth the high prices over other brands?

Are North Face jackets worth the high prices that stores charge for them? It seems like any jacket that’s not North Face is about half what North Face charges. Even Costco had a North Face jacket this holiday season and it was $150 (and you can get a “regular” brand jacket at Costco for about $40 or so).
