Writing a widget for Opera.

Are there any tutorials on how to write widgets with Opera? I really want to learn how.

Perhaps this question is obvious to those who might be able to answer this question, but what are "widgets"? My thought is that they are the generic word for any kind of new invention. Or crazy idea.
