If you could choose a different race than what you are which would you choose to be?

Asked by auhsojsa (2516points) January 27th, 2012

And why? I’m simply referring to the biological taxonomic definition of race. Please no race wars here, try to answer and not respond or focus on anyone else’s answer. I’m curious about the individual mind as a lone answer.

Please keep it serious toned!

A Vulcan, or a Saiyajin

I’ll start it off. I would be African American. I think I choose that race because a lot of my favorite artists are black. Plus I’m really inspired to see that, as a race, they came from slavery (like many other races) but this is the most recent yet and to see the growth and progress of our species is amazing to me.

A Viking. A Scandinavian. Although my idea is mostly fixated on the romanticized Viking that wore horned helmets, whereas actual Vikings never actually wore those…not in battle anyways…modern Norway especially fascinates and amazes me.

I would be a mix. A mix of all different ancestors, each a with a unique one of these silly racial labels that people find so important.

and I would look f#cking amazing

I think that mixed race people are often the most beautiful and some of the most stunning women I have seen are mixed black/latina or black/eastern Asian. As I don’t know enough about the lifestyles of different races I am going to be superficial and go with what I find most attractive!

What does taxonimic mean? Are we including every little variation of skin color and facial features? Are people from the middle east a different race than caucasians under this definition? Would you consider Hispanics a different race? I’m not sure of the parameters of the question, and am just curious.

I would love to be a few shades darker, I am very very pale white. I have always been attracted to people with darker skin, and exotic features.

Neanderthal. Or, a native New Yorker.

I have to agree with @auhsojsa . I greatly admire many African-Americans, especially those who struggled through terrible oppression to reach high office or great attainment.

I’m happy being Irish. I wish I had the accent though…

< Mixed race already, but without the eyes/looks…
I’d probably wanna be Italian. Is that a race?

Black dude. One with a big dick who is great at sports and seducing women.

I think I would be a mixed race. I like so many different parts of so many different cultures that to be made up of many would be constantly interesting.

CaptainHarley's avatar

Yeah! And if part of you went to war with one of the other parts you’d have someone handy to mediate it! : P

But there are only 2 types of Betazoids: the utterly incompetent Troi and the psychotic murderer Suder.

If we’re going with fictional races, I’d be a Q.

But if we’re sticking with human races, I’d go with Asian or half-Asian.

jonsblond's avatar

Native American. I’m thinking Hopi or Navajo. I find their history intriguing.

@mattbrowne
If they are from books, they do not count, as they are not canon.
