What's next for music? Big Bands, cover rock and roll songs, what?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) January 30th, 2012

I have sat and thought of what type music might be next on the firing line for Americans. It’s not rap, it’s not country, could it be cover songs or remakes of the oldies? I think the last best song written was sang by Smokey Robinson in 1982….Just To See Her Again. Nothing has come down the highway that seems to catch the ears of the people. Rock and roll music found its way into country music and rap is…...well, just rap and will soon fade away. Question: so, what type music is next to fill the airways of FM radio stations? I have not a clue, how about you?

Dubstep seems to be on the rise here in the UK. I’m not overly impressed at the moment but I am trying to keep an open mind.

My bet is also on Dubstep or something similar. It’s quickly growing in popularity here, and everywhere else it seems. I don’t like it, but I think it’s set to be the next big thing.
